Hymn 55

1LET others boast of wealth or power,
And glory in their pride ;
Thy word, O God, my value more
Than all the world beside.

2Here mines of knowledge, love, and joy,
Are open to our gaze ;
The treasures that can ne'er destroy,
And gems divinely bright.

3The counsels of redeeming grace
Those sacred leaves unfold ;
Here shines the light of Jesus' face,
Our raptured eyes behold.

4Lord ! bid the brightening scene above
Directs our doubtful feet ;
Here promises of heavenly love
Our ardent wishes meet.
