1Our Lord is ris - en from the dead; Our Je - sus is gone up on high!
A captive host he joy - ful led To the bright por - tals of the sky.
2There his triumphal chariot waits, And angels chant the solemn lay:
"Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates; Ye everlasting doors, give way."
3Loose all your fears of golden light, And let the world behold the beauteous scene;
He claims these mansions as his right, Receive the King of glory in.
4He lives, and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death;
He lives my mansion to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there.
5He lives, all glory to his name! He lives, my Saviour, still the same;
What joy the blest assurance gives,— I know that my Redeemer lives!
6Who is the King of glory? Who?— The Lord, that all our foes o'ercame;
The world, sin, death, and hell o'erthrew; And Jesus is the conqueror's name.
7Lo! his triumphal chariot waits, And angels clap their wings for joy:
"Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates; Ye everlasting doors, give way."
8Who is the King of glory? Who?— The Lord, of glorious power possessed;
The King of saints and angels too; God over all, forever blest.
