Privacy Policy

Advent Hymnals respects your privacy. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it and how you can manage it.

1. Who we are

Advent Hymnals (adventhymnals.org) is run by Kilimo (K) Tronic Limited, Kenya.

3. Website and Android app

Using Advent Hymnals

You can use Advent Hymnals without creating an account. You can browse and use the hymns, words, tunes and Studio without signing in.

Optional accounts

You can create an account by signing in through an email link or single sign-on. If you create an account, we keep:

• Your email address.
• Your favourite hymns, so they can be synced across your devices.
• The hymns you view and play, so we can show your statistics.

You can delete your account and its data at adventhymnals.org/delete-account.

Voting for the next hymn

When you vote for the next hymn, the app creates a random ID. This ID is not linked to your phone's hardware. It is sent with your vote to help make sure each phone gets one vote.

If you pair your phone with your church, the church's leader sees the name you give (or your account name) and when the phone was last used, and can remove it.

Purchases

Advent Hymnals Plus is a one-time purchase through Google Play. Google handles the payment. We do not receive your card details or purchase details. The app only checks on your phone that you own the purchase.

Microphone and camera

The microphone is used for the Sing in Tune feature. The camera is used to scan QR codes. Both are used only on your phone. Nothing from the microphone or camera is uploaded to our servers.

QR scanning uses Google ML Kit on your device. Google may receive basic usage and diagnostic information from ML Kit.

What we do not collect

We do not use:

• Advertisements or advertising IDs.
• Analytics services.
• Crash-reporting services.
• Location information.
• Contacts.
• Photos or files from your device.

How we protect and store data

All data travels over HTTPS. Like every website, our servers note the network (IP) address, device and browser type and the pages asked for, to run the service and keep it safe.

Our own servers host your data. Cloudflare provides DNS and file storage for audio. We do not sell your data or share it with other companies.

4. Volunteer render app (AH Render)

The volunteer app helps us prepare four-part hymn recordings using spare time from volunteers' devices.

Sign-up information

You do not need an account to use AH Render. When you sign up at adventhymnals.org/volunteer, we keep:

• Your name.
• Your email address.
• The kinds of devices you have.
• Your country, if provided.
• Your church, if provided.

We use your name and email only to give you a join code and contact you about volunteering.

Device information

For each volunteer device, we keep:

• A device ID and secret.
• The name the device gives (its computer name or phone model).
• The device platform, processor model and number of cores.
• The app version.
• The total amount of work completed.
• The join code used by the device.
• The device's last IP address.

We keep the device's last IP address for 30 days only, to prevent abuse and to let nearby devices share the voice download.

The app checks your battery, temperature and whether you are using the device only on the device itself, to decide when to pause. It does not send them to us.

Audio processing

Your device sings short phrases of hymns and sends them to us, with how long they took. Every phrase is checked before it is used. The approved phrases become part of the public hymn recordings on Advent Hymnals. The phrases themselves are deleted after 7 days; the finished hymns stay.

5. Children

Advent Hymnals and its apps are for a general audience. They are not directed at children under 13.

6. Your choices

You are in control of your participation. You can:

• Delete your account: visit adventhymnals.org/delete-account.
• Leave volunteering: you can leave the volunteer programme at any time through the app.
• Ask about your data: email us to ask what information we hold about you.
• Request deletion: email us if you want us to delete your information.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when needed. When we make changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
