The Sabbath Day Has Reached Its Close

1The Sabbath day has reached its close,
The shadows lengthening fall;
Peace to this house and all that dwell
Within its sacred wall.
Peace to the hearts that worship here,
Peace in the Name above;
Peace in the knowledge of His word,
Peace in the Savior's love.

2Upon the threshold of the week
That opens to our eyes,
O Father, pour Thy blessing down
From out Thy bounteous skies.
In business of the working days,
In quiet of the home,
In crowded street and peopled mart
Where busy footsteps come.

3Prepare us for another week,
Prepare us for its close;
Prepare us for that rest which Thou
For weary mortals chose.
When all our wanderings shall be o'er,
And all our labors done,
Then in Thy presence evermore
Our Sabbath-rest begun.
